The University of Washington (UW) is dedicated to supporting women in semiconductor and engineering fields through the UPWARDS for the Future program. Our initiatives are open to all eligible persons regardless of race, sex or other identity. They focus on mentorship, professional development and networking to empower students and faculty in STEM.
What We Do
Mentoring Sessions:
- Regular discussions with graduate students and faculty on career paths, work-life balance, and professional growth
- Guidance on transitioning between academia and industry
- Strategies for effective mentoring and leadership
Quarterly Industry & Skills Workshops
- Guest talks from industry leaders (e.g., Micron, Tokyo Electron)
- Workshops on communication, career advancement, and technical skills
- Panel discussions with experienced professionals in semiconductor and engineering
UPWARDS Mentoring Network Participation
- Collaboration with UPWARDS faculty across institutions
- Sharing research insights and discussing challenges as female scientists/engineers
- Expanding mentorship opportunities beyond UW
Through these efforts, UW aims to create a strong and inclusive community for all, regardless of race, sex, or other identity in semiconductors and engineering, equipping them with the resources and support needed to succeed.
